Bridges to Peace:
Ethics and Justice and Women in Ministry
This symposium, sponsored by the Association of Adventist Women, will explore the divisions in the Adventist church surrounding the ordination of women to the Gospel ministry. Members’ collective conscience is not at peace; however, unity can be achieved with ethical thinking about and just actions toward women in the church. The resources of peacemaking can bring church members to a better place. Featured speakers will be Bonnie Dwyer, editor, Spectrum Magazine; Darius Jankiewicz, theologian, Andrews Seminary; Ginger Hanks Harwood, retired theologian with specialties in Adventist women’s history and peace studies; Whitny Braun, theologian, specializing in ethics, Loma Linda University; and Lourdes Morales-Gudmundsson, retired professor specializing in biblical and apocalyptic themes in Spanish and Spanish-American literature as well as forgiveness and peace studies. The symposium will be held on April 13 from 3 to 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.
